About the Book

My Day at the Zoo is no ordinary book. In fact, it is a hybrid, of sorts, because it is both a real picture book and a personalized memory book. With its colorful and delightful pictures and easy-to-read, but clever rhyme, My Day at the Zoo could easily stand on its own as an enjoyable picture book on zoo animals. The addition of a child's own photos from their visit to the zoo, however, turns this great picture book into an extraordinary keepsake. Kids will love My Day at the Zoo because, besides the whimsical animals on every page, it features one of their favorite characters - themselves! They will relive their visit to the zoo every time they share this unique book with family and friends.

About the Author

Vickie G. Hampton is an award-winning versatile writer, editor and publications manager who has built a career in marketing and public relations communications. She is now bringing her skills and craft to the art of storytelling.

She authored two children’s books, My Day at the Zoo and My Day at the Aquarium to give children quick and fun access to photos that ordinarily are viewed once or twice, then left to languish in digital spaces. As children insert their own photos, they become the main characters and are eager to read and share their customized books over and over again.

Hampton is also an emerging playwright. Her plays explore the complex experiences of African Americans in their never-ending struggle to maintain identity and self-agency.

As a full-time editorial contractor, Hampton’s day job includes editing magazines; project managing marketing and fund-raising publications; developing scripts for major events; writing executive-level communications and speeches; and editing, proofreading and writing news and feature articles, as well as advertisement and web copy. Her clients have included several historically Black colleges and universities, including Spelman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, Florida A&M University and Huston-Tillotson University.
